Wexhaus Architects

Eagle House is a newly built, two-story modern brutalist home in South Yarra, thoughtfully designed for a family of four. Replacing an Edwardian-era residence, this striking three-bedroom home embraces contemporary sophistication through a minimalist and highly functional design.

While staying true to Wexhaus’ signature concrete monolithic aesthetic, the structure integrates soft curves and subtle angles to blend harmoniously with the surrounding streetscape. The exterior’s raw, understated materiality flows seamlessly into the interior, where a refined selection of finishes provides a timeless canvas—allowing the homeowner’s bold and eclectic art collection to take centre stage.

Set on a compact lot of under 180 square meters, the home’s 184-square-meter layout required innovative space-planning strategies. The Wexhaus team skillfully optimised circulation, functional zones, and multipurpose spaces to ensure the home meets the evolving needs of its residents.

This project showcases Wexhaus’ expertise in crafting highly efficient, design-forward spaces within spatial constraints.
